On behalf of all of us, we thank you for your support of our Conner's Cause families.
The support that we have received from Sprouts Farmers Market and the Sprouts Healthy Communities Foundation has made it possible for Conner's Cause to provide assistance to every eligible family for over twelve years. In 2020, thanks to an extremely generous $150,000 grant, we were able to maintain our previous levels of program services, even though we were forced to cancel all of our fundraising events. We are deeply grateful for all of our friends at Sprouts "where goodness grows" and helps ease the burden for Conner'sCause families!
Thank you to these community friends!
The Grauer School in Encinitas
For almost twenty years, the caring and compassionate community of students, staff and families of The Grauer School have brought holiday cheer into the homes of Conner's Cause families throughout San Diego. This year, one hundred families received special gifts from Grauer families. On behalf of all of us at Conner's Cause, we would like to thank everyone at The Grauer School for creating smiles year after year!
Girl Scout Troop 1378
Girl Scout Troop 1378 in San Marcos chose Conner's Cause for Children for their Bronze Service Award Project because they wanted to do something to make a difference in the lives of other children and their families. Thanks to their hard work, several Conner's Cause families received help with groceries and holiday presents, as well as personal notes from each of the Girl Scouts.
Many thanks and congratulations to Troop Leader, Mayra and Troop 1378 members; Leah, Scarlett, Janelle, Tatianne, Mariah, Violet, Sabrina,Isabel and proud parents
Our Response to COVID19
As more and more of our friends and neighbors get vaccinated and things slowly being to open up and return to normal, the COVID19 pandemic continues to create additional stress for families of Conner's Cause, whose medically fragile children are particularly vulnerable to any and all viruses.
Moreover, the unprecedented disruptions caused by COVID19 continues to create additional economic hardships for our families who struggle to make ends meet in normal times.
Many of our families have yet to get back to full employment or continue to see a reduction in income, while others are still not able to obtain employment due to their child's care needs or lack of childcare for siblings.
Many COVID related assistance programs, rent eviction and utility shut off moratoriums are about to expire, which has lately brought more urgent requests for assistance from families running out of groceries, gas and care supplies or at risk of losing essential services.
As we have for the past twenty-five years, Conner's Cause will continue to ease the burden for our families, but we will need some extra help to meet their increased needs as our region emerges from this emergency.
We know that many of our friends and donors have also been impacted by this pandemic, however we are asking you to give whatever you can to help us continue to help our families who need your support now more than ever.
Connecting Families to Community Resources
Conner's Cause for Children partners with a number of other community organizations and agencies to ensure that our families have access to as many resources as possible to ease the economic burdens associated with the care of a critically ill child.
Our Parent Navigator, Traci Rico, sends twice-weekly emails to families with important information about a wide range of financial and other resources throughout our region, including disease specific programs.
If you would like to be included on Traci's email list, please contact us at email@example.com
If you have questions please let us know.

Help Keep Conner's Cause Families on the Road!
Conner's Cause children range in age from extremely premature infants to teenagers. They have a wide range of life-threatening illnesses, including cancer, cystic fibrosis, lung, kidney and heart disease, Duchenne's muscular dystrophy and various congenital and rare diseases. What they all have in common are complicated care regimens which can last years or a lifetime.
Conner's Cause families live in three Southern California counties and must travel hundreds of miles a month to bring their critically ill children to hospital clinics and treatment centers.
Working parents and families who can only afford to own one vehicle often travel double distances to drop off a parent and child for a clinic visit, drive to work, care for siblings at home and visit hospitalized children. Typically, families with infants in a Neonatal Intensive Care Unit make multiple trips a day for months at a time.
At over four dollars a gallon and climbing, the price of gas in our region is currently the highest in the country. Conner's Cause families are mostly low-income and are now more in need of financial assistance for gas and other transportation costs so they can continue to get their children to medical appointments and consistent care and treatment.
Please consider making an extra donation so we can buy more gas cards, help pay for tires, registration and insurance and other transportation costs for Conner's Cause families.
Your donation helps keep our families on the road and helps them get their children to the care they need for as often and for as long as they need it!
Please click on the yellow DONATE button above - and thank you!
MEET CONNER'S CAUSE FAMILIES:
Emilee is the single mother of two month old Baby Lohgan, sisters Addah and Deliyah and big brother Gahvyn. Lohgan spent several weeks in the neonatal intensive care unit right after his birth because of serious congenital heart defects.
Cylus was born with bilary atresia, a rare disease of the liver and bile ducts that affects only infants. He was hospitalized shortly after birth for the first of many surgeries and procedures. At some point, he will probably need a liver transplant.
Meet Faith ...
Four year old Faith was born at 32 weeks with gastroschisis, a rare birth defect in which a baby’s intestines and other organs are on the outside of the body at birth. When Faith was born the doctors had to cut off nearly all of Faith’s intestines. Now, Faith is on total parenteral nutrition (TPN) to give her body what it needs to keep Faith alive.
